Grabbed lunch at the beach even though the sky was a flat sheet of grey. Still warm enough to sit outside in a t-shirt — Hawaii gloomy is a different breed from mainland gloomy. Got a burger, fries, an iced tea, and parked at a picnic table close enough to the water that I could feel the spray.
The clouds chased everyone else off, which I'm not mad about. Usually you fight for a spot in the shade. Today I had a whole crescent of sand to look at and the surf had this slow, heavy rhythm — bigger swells than yesterday but cleaner.
Watched a kid try to teach his dad how to body-board for about twenty minutes. The dad kept eating it. I almost laughed out loud twice. Eventually they both gave up and just floated past the break, which honestly seemed like the right call.
Walked back along the shoreline instead of the boardwalk. Picked up a few shells, lost them all in my pocket by the time I got home. Standard.
